On 23,September 2023, the Hari Singh Foundation, in collaboration with Help Foundation, organized a significant event in Downtown Srinagar at Bait ul Meeras Aali Kadal. The event aimed to provide support to underprivileged girls and women by distributing free sanitary napkins and conducting an interactive session on mental health in connection with menstruation.One of the primary objectives of the event was to address the essential need for menstrual hygiene products. The organizers distributed free sanitary napkins to underprivileged girls and women in the community. This initiative aimed to ensure that menstrual hygiene is accessible to all, regardless of economic constraints.In addition to providing sanitary napkins, an interactive session on mental health and its connection to menstruation was organized. This session focused on the emotional and psychological challenges that individuals often face during their menstrual cycles.The session highlighted the link between mental health and menstruation, emphasizing that hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle can impact one's emotional well-being.
Participants were educated about common emotional challenges such as mood swings, anxiety, and irritability that can accompany menstruation.Coping strategies to manage emotional and psychological challenges during menstruation were discussed.By providing free sanitary napkins and addressing the often-overlooked aspect of mental health during menstruation, the event contributed to improving both physical and emotional well-being.Later a Q&A session was conducted, allowing the participants to ask questions, seek clarifications, and share their concerns regarding menstruation.
